Description
Masahiro L-180 sharpening stone [40106]
Stones are the best way to grind, sharpen, and polish a cutting edge. This method is also used by Japanese knife manufacturers.
The Masahiro L-180 Rough sharpening stone is a flat, rectangular stone with dimensions of 210x72x27mm and a grit (number of grains, abrasive particles per cm 2 ) of 180, used for sharpening very dull knives or knives with a damaged cutting edge. The low grit is perfect for quickly removing worn, "old" layers of steel. The stone is placed on a plastic base with rubber, non-slip feet. Before use, the stone should be placed in water for a few minutes and must not remain dry during sharpening.
Masahiro recommends the following grit for knives:
- #100 - #600 for very dull knives and those with a damaged cutting edge
- #800 - #1000 for regular sharpening, slightly dull knives
- #1500 - #3000 for final smoothing and polishing
