Description
Masahiro LL-1000 sharpening stone [40113]
Stones are the best way to grind, sharpen, and polish a cutting edge. This method is also used by Japanese knife factories.
The Masahiro LL-1000 Medium sharpening stone is a flat, rectangular stone with dimensions of 210x73x60 mm and a grit (number of grains, abrasive particles per cm 2 ) of 1000, used to restore sharpness to slightly dull, regularly sharpened knives. A stone of this grit is the primary tool for knife sharpening. Before use, the stone should be placed in water for a few minutes and must not remain dry during sharpening.
Masahiro recommends the following grit for knives:
- #100 - #600 for very dull knives and those with damaged cutting edges
- #800 - #1000 for regularly sharpened, slightly dull knives
- #1500 - #3000 for final smoothing and polishing
