Suncraft SENZO CLASSIC Santoku small knife 143mm SZ-03

Santoku is the Japanese counterpart to the Western chef's knife. Its name translates to “three virtues” or “three excellences.” Not without reason – this knife, which appears as a cross between a regular chef's knife and a cleaver, is multifunctional. It is perfectly suited for slicing meat, fish, and vegetables.

SENZO CLASSIC line, rich in products, combines the best features of Eastern and Western knife-making philosophies. The shapes and purpose of the knives are mostly Western, while the craftsmanship and design are Eastern. The series includes knives with different blades and varying weights, as demanded from kitchen tools in Western culture. The simple yet refined SENZO CLASSIC line design maintains a Japanese spirit.

SENZO CLASSIC knife blades are made from 33 layers of stainless steel. Damasko plienas * is reinforced with a VG-10 steel core **. This composition is extremely durable, and the blade itself is resistant to wear and fading. A close-up reveals a subtle, wavy pattern reminiscent of samurai swords.

SENZO CLASSIC knives feature a very sophisticated design. The black handle surface, made from so-called Pakkawood ***, has no rivets, making it extremely elegant. A red ring at the base of the blade catches the eye, and the “ Tsuchime ” blade forging not only looks impressive – it also ensures that cut products do not stick to the knife and easily slide off the blade.

* Damasko plienas  – modern so-called Damasko plienas consists of superimposed extremely thin stainless steel sheets, of which the middle 25% of the sheets are called the core, and the remaining 75% consist of sheets of different hardness – alternating layers of soft and hard steel. As a result, a “wavy” effect is created on the knife's surface.

** VG-10 plienas, this type of steel has been considered one of the best for kitchen knife production. Chefs appreciate both the beautiful design of VG-10 knives and their exceptional durability. VG-10 is a high-hardness material, with a value of HRC 60 on the HRC scale. As a result, knives made from it are incredibly
